Beam Coating Project

A California Cheese Processor discovered a potential health hazard. The paint on their beam system that acted as a trolley for cheese barrels was failing and beginning to peel. A phasing plan to was created to prepare and recoat the beams without disrupting cheese production. The project was split into 7 zones and dual wall 14 mil polyethylene full containment zones were built including negative air pressure as well as exhausting paint fumes and dust.

The project was proposed, awarded and manned with a thirty man crew working dual 12 hour shifts within a four day period The work was completed in 13 days with virtually no interruption to cheese production. The selected coating system from Sherwin Williams consisted of a surface tolerant Epoxy primer and a Polysiloxane finish.
