California Cheese Plant Flooring
The project consisted of 63,000 Square Feet of Polyurethane Cement Flooring at a Central California Cheese processing facility. A Sika 1/4″ thick trowel applied mortar was specified based on the long term performance of the product. The majority of the rooms were coolers with operating temperatures of 26-30 degrees F. The flooring was installed at ambient temperatures along with the cove base and curbs. A 1/4″ thick joing was then cut 1 1/2″ away from the wall 2″ deep, the control joints were marked and recut as well.
The coolers were slowly brought down to operating temperatures and the concrete allowed to shrink. A Versaflex Polyurea joint filer was then installed in the open joints. Polyurea cures very quickly at below zero temperatures and provides an excellent combination of flexibility and edge protection of joints subject to forklift traffic.
